results of debug/release different?

I make use of the 2nd version of NR in fortran language to solve systems of nonlinear equations.
I found the results are different for debug and release version even for xbroydn, an example program offered in NR package. Why? and how to solve this problem?

Could you provide some more information? Such as, how large is the difference between the two results or any other helpful information.
